Last week, we rolled out the ultimate 2005 Detroit auto show photos. This week we continue our coverage with in-depth analysis of the products we saw and what all the announcements and hype mean to you, the consumer.

Even Chris Bangle hung with the Spies...gotta love him wearing his name tag...Like everyone doesn't know who he is...Maybe his tag should just say 'Maestro'?

Let's face it, even though we're not keen on the latest designs, if it wasn't for him, there would BE no mystique behind the title 'Car designer'.

Don't believe us?

Just walk around one of these shows and see the competitors designers sweating bullets, wondering if the outfit and hair style they picked for the show is hip enough. Or the way they try to get us press guys to give them some coverage...It's really quite funny.

Why?

Because Bangle set the standard.

He elevated the title of 'Car designer' to rock star status.

We also admire him because he STANDS for something.

No flip-flop or spin with Chris.

He believes in his work and he doesn't give a crap what anyone, including me, thinks.

That may eventually sack him, but we'd rather hang with a guy like that, than one of the other suck holes we met at some of the other stands.

Check out this week's issue and enjoy the ultimate 2005 Detroit auto show photos (over 1100!) in our 2005 Detroit auto show photo gallery.
