Dear 001,

From MacLeans

Since its introduction in 2004, the newest Quattroporte has performed admirably, but since that time more competitors are offering large-displacement twelve-cylinder engines. The once mighty Ferrari-derived 400-horsepower Maserati 4.2-litre V8, with its throaty exhaust note and sensational song at full revs, has been outclassed by the likes of the BMW 760Li with Direct Injection, the twin-turbo Benz S600, and the Audi A8 W12. To not only keep up with, but to better the Joneses, Maserati is planning to add a 5.7-litre V12 to the Quattroporte lineup.
