Ferrari is touting a front engined, rear-wheel-drive "California" as the new Dino (yes I know Dino was mid-engined). Slipped into a svelte Pininfarina designed two-seater coupe and utilizing a reduced capacity, detuned version of the current Maserati sourced power unit (tuned to around 350-bhp).

Ferrari hopes that the evocative prancing horse will help shift 2500 of these cars a year as the manufacturer abandons it's self imposed production limit.

Clever F1 transmissions and convertibles will not be available so as to protect the range. Lacking any real technical advances, a 175-mph is all your going to get.

Is the horse enough?

See him at a stable near you in 2008.
