McCartney signs Lexus as tour sponsor

Sir Paul McCartney has struck a deal with car manufacturer Lexus to sponsor his 37 date sell-out American tour later this year.

McCartney says that the deal, which is estimated at around £1 million, is a “natural fit” as he and the car giant “share the same philosophy and approach to creating the best work possible.”

His £40,000 Lexus RX 400h, however, may not be as popular with his family members. The luxury car is fitted with leather – a material which Stella, his daughter, has campaigned against for years.

A friend said: “For her father, who is already worth £800million, to suddenly feel the need to promote luxury cars trimmed with leather has incensed her.”

A spokesman for the multi-millionaire said: “The Lexus Sir Paul is actually taking on tour has been specially upholstered with no leather,” but admitted that “the ones the public will buy will indeed be trimmed in leather.”
