TAHOE’S INTERIOR DEFINED BY SUPERIOR COMFORT, CONVENIENCE AND REFINEMENT
The interior systems of Chevrolet’s 2007 Tahoe represent significant new levels of refinement, comfort, quality and convenience. These improvements build on the previous model’s class-leading position in comfort. The roomier interior of the ’07 Tahoe is airy, thanks to a lower instrument panel and deeper windshield that improve outward visibility. Passenger space is increased, too, including more shoulder space for rear passengers, which is packaged with the available roof-mounted head curtain side air bags with rollover protection for all seating rows.
Tahoe offers the choice of a sporty interior (LS models), with a single-tone, brushed metal look on the upper IP, center stack and door switch plates, or a more traditional appearance (LT and LTZ models) with burl wood-look accents. Attention to detail is evident in the tight gaps and flush surfacing of the instrument panel, center stack and other interior surfaces. Interior quietness is best-in-class. The overall look is upscale and harmonious, reflecting Tahoe’s sporty, active, family-based character.
Accessibility and capability are enhanced with features that include a unique remote-release fold-and-tumble second-row seat and a third-row seat that also is easily removable. New comfort features include increased seat travel and seatback angles and an upgraded HVAC system. Storage capability is improved with the segment’s largest center console storage bin, a larger glove box and additional new storage compartments.
An impressive new audio/navigation lineup provides quality entertainment and information. A new family of CD/MP3-compatible radios leads the radio lineup, with an enhanced DVD entertainment system includes a larger, 8-inch screen (with in-dash loading). A new touch-screen navigation radio also incorporates the view monitor for the available rear-camera system. The new Generation 6 OnStar system is standard and XM Satellite radio is available.
Class-leading comfort
Tahoe’s class-leading seating comfort is enhanced in the 2007 model with stylish new seats designed for even more comfort, additional passenger-carrying flexibility, and easier entry/egress, compared to previous models. Door pillar-mounted first- and second-row three-point safety belts facilitate the slimmer designs (second-row, center position uses an SUV-typical belt-to-seat design). Seat comfort has been further improved with firmer foams, including more aggressive bolsters.
Front-row seats have one-inch more fore/aft travel than previous models. Second-row seats provide 0.4 inch (10 mm) more legroom and knee room. Their seatback angle is adjusted an additional two degrees rearward for extra comfort. Second-row heated seats are available.

Tahoe’s cloth (bench and bucket) seats have single-tone, textured velour fabric inserts and velour fabric seat bolsters for a plush, luxurious feel . Leather-appointed bench and bucket seats, optional (LT) or standard (LTZ), are high-wear Meridian leather with double-stitched French seams.
As an industry-exclusive, second-row seats offer a power-release fold-and-tumble feature. Simply pushing an overhead console button or a rear-door pillar button automatically un-latches the seat(s) and sends it into its folded and tumbled position. Available third-row seats are easily removed using two convenient levers on the back of the seat and stored with wheels at the front of the seat.
Climate control
Tri-Zone climate control with individual controls for the driver and front passenger are standard. Tahoe LS and LT-1 feature a manually operated system; LT-2, LT-3 and LTZ models feature an automatic system. Both versions have been upgraded over previous models to simplify rear settings and provide quieter operation, more effective cooling/air distribution for rear passengers and improved side-window defogging/defrosting. Both systems also allow up to 30º F difference between driver and front passenger settings, along with a separate setting for rear passengers.
The HVAC control module controls the electric rear window defogger and Automatic Climate Preconditioning (provided with the new remote vehicle starting system). The manual climate system has six fan speed settings for more flexible airflow volume adjustment. The automatic system provides six speed settings in manual mode, plus seemingly infinite automatic mode adjustments.
Storage
Tahoe models equipped with bucket seats receive a new center floor console, designed with the segment’s largest storage capacity – 0.7-cubic-foot (20.1 liters). Two cupholders can be removed or moved to a second position. The rear of the console provides two additional cupholders for second-row passengers, A/C vents, and a convenient power point for video or hand-held games and Rear Seat Audio controls. The glove box provides 25 percent more storage capacity than before – 5 liters of volume in total.
Cargo volume, second-row legroom, and third-row headroom have all been increased compared to previous models. Overall exterior length was increased only 3.2 inches, but cargo volume is increased by 4.2 cubic feet (118.9 liters) behind the second-row seats and 2.3 cubic feet (65.1 liters) behind the third row. There is 60.3 cubic feet (1,707.7 liters) of cargo space with the second-row seat in place and the third-row seats removed. There is 16.9 cubic feet (478.6 liters) of cargo space behind the third-row seats.
Controls
The all-new, standard six-gauge analog cluster provides easy-to-read displays for fuel, temp, oil, volt/ battery, odometer and speedometer. The new, dual-row Driver Information Center (DIC) display has expanded alerts. All controls are ergonomically placed within easy driver reach. Autotrac transfer case, light switch, radio and HVAC controls have a rotary design for a harmonious look and feel. The center stack provides all-new audio and HVAC controls.
Up to 11 steering wheel-mounted controls contribute to hands-on-the-wheel, eyes-on-the-road driving safety. The left pod includes four cruise control functions and the right pod provides seven redundant radio controls. Steering wheel controls are available are standard on LT and LTZ models; available on LS.
The overhead console conveniently locates switch controls for the optional sunroof, power liftgate and second-row “remote seat release” feature and the universal home remote garage door opener.
Radios
Tahoe offers an impressive new audio lineup; a choice of five, easy-to-operate radios – two with navigation capabilities – and two sound systems, including premium Bose sound. All radios are compatible with the enhanced Generation 6.1 OnStar® system and capable of XM Satellite Radio reception. All units provide a standard auxiliary input jack for external devices, such as a portable MP3 player or remote cassette player. The input allows for plug-and-play through the sound system.
The standard (LS and LT-1 models) ETR AM/FM stereo is capable of playing both CDs and MP3 formatted discs through a single-disc player. The radio is available with a standard high-quality, eight-speaker performance audio system or, on LT-1 and LT-2 models, with an optional nine-speaker Bose premium performance system with remote amplifier.
The nine-speaker Bose system is standard on LT-3 and LTZ. A radio with an in-dash six-CD changer is available on LS and LT-1; it is standard on LT-2, LT-3 and LTZ models. An uplevel Dual Play radio provides two separate, single-disc player slots for playing CD Audio and the DVD video for the rear seat entertainment system (see below).
Tahoe also offers a choice of two touch-screen DVD-based Navigation radios on LT-2, LT-3 and LTZ models. Each includes a large, 6.5-inch Active Matrix LCD display screen. The base Navigation radio includes an integral DVD slot for the map disc and a separate CD slot for music. (The other Navigation radio requires the Rear Seat Entertainment option and has two DVD slots; one for a map disc and the other for rear-seat entertainment.) Both radios instantly map routes with 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional full-color map views. The system supports an off-road mode for uncharted roads and provides a low fuel pop-up, which automatically begins to map out the nearest gas station(s) when the vehicle’s low fuel-warning indicator comes on. The navigation screen also doubles as the monitor for Tahoe’s available rear camera system.
Rear Seat Audio (RSA) is standard and provides new features for more flexible entertainment. RSA now allows second-row passengers to plug in headphones, adjust audio volume and listen to a variation of the same type of audio source as the front-seat occupant or an entirely separate source. RSA interfaces with the optional DVD Rear Entertainment System (RSE). The RSE system provides one remote and two infrared wireless headphones.
Rear-seat entertainment system
A DVD-based rear seat entertainment system (RSE) is available on LT and LTZ models. RSE provides a flip-down, color screen for second- and third seat passenger viewing. The system includes an 8.0-inch Wide-Screen liquid-crystal display (LCD), with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio/ screen format. The Infotainment system supports the DVD system so audio can be heard throughout the entire speaker system, through wireless headphones or through rear speakers only.
The DVD disc slot is located in front seat area, so the driver can easily load the system for children in car seats without having to lean back awkwardly or take eyes off the road. All RSE controls, except a parental override control, are in the rear to prevent driver distraction. The parental override control can mute speakers or stop all audio/visual activity.
Larger sunroof
Tahoe offers a new larger (36.1 inches wide by 24.6 inches long) power sliding sunroof as a free flow option on LT and LTZ models. The new sunroof is wider, has new express open/close and auto close features and includes a hard composite wind deflector that reduces wind noise and interior buffeting.
