I'm not sure if you've heard this elsewhere, but Lexus is now producing 51% SUVs. That explains, at least in part, the decline in passenger car sales, particularly re: the LS 430 & GS 430. Dealers are only been receiving a few GS 430s a month, even the larger dealers. LS 430s are on back order for most configurations, and most only have one or two for stock. I think Lexus is trying to capitalize on the fact that they're the only Luxo company w/ 3 SUV lines, and that will be incorporated into the brand image.
Auto Spies perpective: It doesn't help that the LS and GS are as exciting as watching the Cubs get mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, by late April. Sorry to all the Cub fans for that...The refreshed LS and new GS will change the mix for sure, as sources tell us the LS is really sexy.
