The 4.5-liter V-8, it must be noted, was a bit disappointing. Porsche claims it delivers full torque at the low engine speed of 2,500 rpm, but it did not drive that way in suburban squirt-and-stop traffic. The engine didn't really deliver until about 4,000 rpm, an unlikely speed in routine shuttling unless a driver manually holds the six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission in a lower gear. Porsche drivers might. But the newcomers that Porsche hopes to attract might not like to drive that way
But, mercy, Cayenne's ugly, with a capital yuck. The security guard at the parking dungeon said it best: "That's hideous." The fat face has the appearance of a collagen enhancement gone very wrong. The roof pillars sit atop the body in pinched, unpleasing fashion, as if the last opening on the assembly line was too narrow. And bright trim surrounds the windows, emphasizing what probably would be better camouflaged with body-color or dark trim. Looks a bit cheap, actually.
Cayenne is better in person that in photos, and the U.S. model looks nicer than the European version that was in the early photographs. But Cayenne is a truck you'll have to appreciate for what it does, not how it looks.
Overall: Impressive parts, disappointing whole.

I test drove the Cayenne S, let me tell you my opinion, the engine is great, fit and finish needless to comment "Its a Porsche", however the transmission is sluggish, on auto mode when you come in to a turn the downshifting is late by a second or so, I shared my finding with the owner of the dealer and himself agreed with me.
