If you’ve been eyeing Volvo’s new S60 saloon that will go on sale in 2010, expect to get revolutionary safety technology that features two aspects: Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian Detection system. Volvo has recently released the latest details regarding the safety technologies that will be offers on the new S60 saloon.

Critics can say what they want about Volvo but the Swedish firm cannot be accused of being hasty since the safety system in this car had been ongoing for more than 10 years. The system consists of a radar in the front grille, a camera behind the inside rear-view mirror and a central control unit. The radar and camera constantly monitor the road in front of the car. While the radar’s task is to detect objects and measure the distance to them, the camera determines what type of objects they are. Genius, isn’t it?
