2003 MB CLK's for $5000+ off sticker?

MB dealers starting to panic

Continued from our last article (How to buy a new E-class for below invoice)

So why did we end up buying CLK430 convertibles instead of the E-class?

Because we got an even BETTER deal than on the E-class!

Hard to believe isn't it?

Just a few months ago, if you asked for a discount on CLK cabs, the dealers looked at you like you had 12 heads!

Well times, they are a changing...

Check out the deal we got on these...I still don't want to believe it!

To put this in perspective, we visited swapalease.com and checked the payments of people who already owned a CLK 430 cab...check it out:

Our car had a list price of $64,025 (pretty loaded, including navigation system which is getting hard to find)

Our dealer discounted the car $5,300 off MSRP!

We leased through Chase because they have the best residual on the CLK (a whopping 70+ percent!)

The dealer gave us the buy rate of .0023 (most dealers will lie to you and tell you the buy rate is .00285)

We only put down the first payment and CA license fee.

So our 36 month, 12K miles per year lease ends up costing us:

$699, INCLUDING sales tax!

If you are will to put 10 fully refundable security deposits down ($7000), you can bring the payment down to $610.

If we were to have gotten a base car without nav, we could have got it down to $600 with no security deposit, less with multiple securities down.

So who do you call to get one of these?

Start with Alex at MB of Long Beach...tell him the Spies sent you.

We suggest you move fast before they're all gone...

Auto Spies perspective: We recommend picking one of these up at these prices, before they disappear. After driving our 2003's, we forgot how well these cars are made and that they are one of the last TRUE Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The new CLK is based on the C-class platform and in our opinion does not look as nice, drive the same or is made as well, as the previous generation vehicle. Also, the majority of MB salespeople will tell you in confidence that they prefer the 2003 CLK430 convertible and coupe to the new generation product.
