Readers response to "Why Audi sales are in the tank" article

Some excellent retorts

Dear 001,

You are correct in stating Audi sales are down, but hearsay from a couple dealers does not mean all that much.  Why not quote actual sales figures?  Audi sold 6,380 cars in March 2003, down 16% from March 2002.  Year-to-date sales are down 10%.  The A4 is also suffering -- sales are down over 15% from last year.  One reason for the decline is the massive VW/Audi recall of coil packs for the 1.8T and 3.0 V6 engines.  Also, the April issue of Consumer Reports gave the A4 and A6 below average ratings for reliability, and are no longer recommending the A4.
