While Ford and General Motors appear to have been producing some seriously compelling vehicles, the lone ranger of the Detroit Three, Chrysler, seems to have been keeping a low profile.
Besides their 3 million hour press conference a couple months ago, there has not been any exciting news coming from the Chrysler/Fiat brand. Until now, perhaps.
The internet rumor mill is talking about plans for Chrysler to feature an electric Fiat 500 and a Chrysler-fied Lancia on their stand at the NAIAS in Detroit. Although by no means are these riveting new cars, it at least shows the brand is doing SOMETHING.
Now that we know the company may have a pulse, is this the right direction for the brand. OR do they need to start becoming more aggressive in the market place?
Autocar reports:
"Chrysler will display an electric Fiat 500 and a Lancia Delta carrying a Chrysler grille at the Detroit motor show, according to reports.
However, Automotive News is reporting that Chrysler has no immediate plans to sell either of the vehicles in North America. Instead, they are an indication of developments being worked on - the 500 could become a production reality, while the Delta signals the eventual merger of Lancia and Chrysler..."
