You know, it is getting really interesting in the world of alternative energy vehicles. Particularly of the German persuasion.
We have seen Mercedes-Benz evolve from solely BLUETEC diesels to hybrid and now electric powertrains. Same goes for BMW.
But, it seems that there has been a recent push towards hybrids. For example, take a look at BMW's latest project; a hybrid 5-series
Not too long after my recent Mercedes-Benz S400 review, 001 asked me what I would pick: an S350 diesel -- which we do not have in the U.S. -- or the S400. I chose the S400. 001 didn't see it the same way.
So, my question for you Spies in the case of a vehicle being offered in diesel AND hybrid, which are you going home with?
Autocar reports:
The hybrid version of the BMW 5-series has been spied testing.
BMW’s first hybrid saloon will come with a straight-six petrol engine and be able to run on electric power alone.
A concept version of the car, the Active Hybrid 5-series, was unveiled at this year's Geneva motor show, and the production model is expected to go on sale next year.
The concept was fitted with a 40kW/52bhp electric motor sandwiched between the engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission.
