After years of not exactly having a direct competitor to BMW's 3-Series coupe, Infiniti's G Coupe and the latest from Audi, the A5, it appears that Mercedes-Benz is stepping up to the plate with a 2011/2012 C-Class Coupe.
Although it can be argued that the CLK-Class cars were competitors, they were always priced a bit more aggressively than the 3, G and A5. Now with a dedicated C-Class coupe, we estimate the base coupe will debut around the $35,000 mark.
What will the C-Class coupe have to do to make it a viable option against the competition?
Not surprisingly, Mercedes-Benz engineers are testing the redesigned for 2011 C-Class sedan together with its new two-door brethren that will carry the C-Class Coupe name populating another niche for the German carmaker when it arrives in the market next year.
The development of the new C-Class Coupe has led to some modest styling updates for the sedan (obviously for the Estate model also), which include the re-designed front bumper and headlights along with a recontoured grille. It also appears that the sedan's gets a reprofiled rear bumper and a fresh design for the tail lights...
