The BMW’s upcoming three-cylinder motor may soon feature in the Mini lineup but sources say that it will have to be reworked to fit in the Mini hatchback, Cabriolet and Clubman.

Similar to the recently released four-cylinder diesel, this motor will need to have many of its ancillary components revised. When the facelifted range receives BMW’s 1.6-liter diesel engine this autumn, Minis will be able to return less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions.
