It appears that Toyota has big plans with its hybrid lineup, as the Japanese manufacturer announced today that it wants to reach cumulative sales of 5 million hybrid vehicles in the early part of this decade.

Toyota sold more than 2.68 million hybrid vehicles globally since the launch of the first model in 1997, and it is considered the pioneer in in gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles. Toyota had a goal of selling at least 1 million hybrid vehicles per year
