There have been 15,000 orders taken for the 2011 Ford Explorer – double than the carmaker’s projections. This model will start arriving in showrooms at the start of next year. According to Ford officials, the preorders include about 3,000 retail orders, 7,500 dealer orders and over 4,500 from companies. Instead of being the traditional body-on-frame truck, the 2011 Explorer features the underpinnings of the Ford Taurus, making it a more fuel-efficient crossover compared to an SUV.
