Straight from the horse's mouth is word that BMW Group's next-generation MINI will receive a bigger change in design than the previous iterations.

Granted, that's not saying much because if you take a firs and second generation Cooper then place them side-by-side, you probably will not notice much of a difference. That's because the details are slightly changed and the only apparent difference is the Cooper got a little bigger.

Hints point to a new interior theme rather than the outgoing center-mounted, large speedometer. Could BMW Group's Adrian van Hooydonk looking to the 2012 Hyundai Veloster for some inspiration? Autocar writes that he was spotted inspecting the Veloster's interior.


...According to van Hooydonk, new Mini design boss, Anders Warming will start the design of the Mk3 Mini from a near clean sheet of paper, although “we have to balance that against the fact that it is the brand’s core model, like the 3, 5 and 7-series rolled into one,” he added...
