If you're the owner of a 1996 - 2004 Nissan Pathfinder or 1997 - 2003 Infiniti QX4, which are essentially the same vehicles, you will definitely want to keep an eye on this development. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been 35 reports of corrosion-related failures concerning the front suspension.

While one or two failures can be considered "freak" accidents, 35 is starting to show a trend.

This means NHTSA has opened an investigation to 400,000 of the aforementioned vehicles and will be thoroughly looking into the matter. If you're the owner of one of the SUVs but don't want to wait for NHTSA, you may want to have its driver-side front strut tower inspected in the meantime.
