SPIED: Is It A Lotus OR A DeTomaso? Neither? V8? V6?

Most of the time we have a general idea of what car we're spying on, this time we genuinely are taking a shot in the dark. Although it was mentioned this could be the upcoming DeTomaso Pantera, a commenter at GTspirit pointed out that this mule was hinted to be the upcoming Lotus Esprit.

Basically, no one has a clue.

With that said though, we do know one thing: it sounds dirty! With a bassy note like that I'd assume it was a V8 powering that car, but it doesn't sound like any V8 I have recently heard. Could it be a forced-induction V6?

Some time ago we wrote about the return of the legendary Pantera by De Tomaso. The Italians already confirmed that this car is set to return before the end of the year. The previous Pantera was one of the most successful models of De Tomaso, a total of 5500 cars were produced between 1971 and 1991.

The Italians are working on a new V8 engine which should provide 550 horsepower, so it would be reasonable to assume this engine will be used in the Pantera...
