NEW Information On Ford's Upcoming Focus ST, The Blue Oval Isn't Playin' With This One

Ford's in its laboratory and it's cooking up a nice little dish for you. If you don't recall, Ford has plans for an all-new global Focus dubbed the "ST." Imagine it as a placeholder between your run-of-the-mill Focus and the RS.

With Ford projecting power near 250 horsepower, it is sure to have enough kick to please most enthusiasts, now let's just hope that Ford makes good on some proper sport seats. Although the concept car featured a nice pair of seats, who knows what will happen when it comes to the U.S. Department of Transportation comes into play.

That's why the Audi R8 doesn't have those sweet Euro-spec seats.

Back to the ST. Our cover shot features one of the test prototypes undergoing a workout. According to Ford, there are 60 vehicles undergoing testing in Europe and North America. We hope this translates into one immensely good car.

With sales of the standard car well underway, Ford's focus has shifted to performance. The blue oval has released these eye-catching images of a Focus ST prototype hard at working during its testing phase. And according to the firm, the Renaultsport Megane 250-rival is still on track for an on-sale date early next year.

In Europe and North America Ford's Team RS and SVT (Special Vehicle Team) are currently putting a fleet of 60 pre-production STs through their paces, to fine-tune the dynamics of the firm's first global performance car...
