Say what you will, but to me a car's exhaust note is really what is the finishing touch on a vehicle. Don't get me wrong, it still has to be stylistically intact from the inside out and have a fantastic powertrain, but that's only a portion of the equation.
Because if you don't have sound, you're missing something.
Case in point, when I drove the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, I knew it had a killer exterior design, the interior was oh-kay -- nothing to write home about -- and it had a decent powertrain. And its sound? Well, it was the most uninspired thing ever. It didn't make one hair on the back of my neck stand up.
For cars like the Ferrari F355 and Lexus LFA though, they make you feel something. You take notice once you catch an earful.
With me the F355 is the pinnacle of sound. Even better, it sounds like a monster when equipped with a Capristo exhaust system. That's just me though. What say you, Spies?
