When it comes to Mercedes-Benz's S-Class, it is an icon for the brand. The way it looks is relatively important for the rest of the marque since its lines and character typically transcends down the lineup.

Usually, the S-Class' attitude becomes worked into the C-Class. This is why the next-gen S-Class is important -- if the looks of the S interpret the C, which is the largest-selling product Mercedes makes, the S' design is crucial.

I guess you can say it's a trickle-down effect.

The current rendering has the S-Class sporting a bold "face" with a large, sweeping grill and a pair of headlights that appear to be inherited from the all-new CLS-Class. Its side profile is characterized by two sweeping lines and its rear end is a blend of the current S' squared-off looks and the CLS' taillights.
