Although it's been a couple of years since I got my first look at the Cadillac ATS in its early stages of development, General Motors wasn't shy about showing it off to the press.

In coupe form it was something special to look at. Its design was really clean looking and said something about the brand. Fast forward two years and now we're looking at the car in test form, covered in camouflage.

But this video is different because it features GM's North America President, Mark Reuss, and others telling us all about the philosophy behind the all-new ATS.

There are mentions of "soul," "wagging the tail out," "it will be fun to drive," "it will look like nothing out there in the segment," etc.

Considering it is the car that will go head-to-head with the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Infiniti G, it has a lot of bases to cover.

GM North America President Mark Reuss recently spent some time behind the wheel of a preproduction Cadillac ATS sedan, and he brought along a video crew to commemorate the event. Naturally, Reuss had plenty to say about the car in the resulting two-minute video, calling it "a soul for Cadillac in this segment that we haven't had before."
