Latest update on 2004 BMW 5-series availability in the U.S.
Is it coming sooner than later?
Dear 001,
Here is a copy of an e-mail I received from my local dealer regarding deliveries:
Hello,
Production has been moved forward on the new E60, 5 Series as supplies of the existing E39, 5 Series are dwindling. I was told to expect the new E60, 530i towards the middle of October, instead of late November, with the 525i and 545i following in late December, instead of late January. I would suggest getting on the our list for the 545i as I have been told we will not see this car in any more of a quantity than we see the current model.
Let me know how you wish to proceed.
Thank you,
A BMW salesperson
Auto Spies perspective: We believe this to be true as our sources tell us. The reason it is true, is because the cars are already being produced and the arrrival date in the U.S. is TOTALLY based on how much inventory they had left on the ground, of existing 5-series vehicles. Because BMW is giving away the current 5-series with stupidly cheap lease deals, people are eating it up and realizing they can buy, probably the the BEST mid-size sedan EVER made, for pennies on the dollar. You also have customers who have seen the new car and don't like the design so they are snapping up the remaining "True BMW's" as fast as they can.
