Not too long ago photos of a spied Mercedes-Benz mule hit the interwebz.

At first impression, it appeared that Mercedes' AMG performance division was preparing an inevitable B-Class AMG product.Some sources speculated that it would be named the B2.

Given that Benz actually went and produced an R-Class AMG, nothing is out of the ordinary anymore; however, word has surfaced that the B-Class AMG mule we saw is simply a test bed for other upcoming AMG projects.

The mule is actually being used to test out components for upcoming A-Class and CLC AMG products..


Mercedes-Benz is using this Mercedes B-class mule to test the engine and running gear of the upcoming all-wheel drive AMG versions of the new A-class and CLC.

Reports had claimed that Mercedes was planning to launch an AMG version of the B-class, but high-ranking Mercedes sources have confirmed this car is instead a mule for the most potent versions of two of B-class’s sister cars. "The B-class is interesting,” said one insider, “but it is not suitable for traditional AMG customers."
