Auto Spies World Exclusive: Details on 2004 7-series refresh
Is it a go and what will it look like?
One of the hottest rumors flying around the car business is: Will BMW refresh the 2004 7-series and what will it look like?
As you remember, we broke this story months ago and have good news to report to all those (quite a few) who don't like the look, of the trunk and rear tailights.
From our discussions with our BMW contacts, the refresh is DEFINITELY happening and dealers will see it at their July meeting.
Regarding the look of the car... sources are telling us BMW will soften the trunk line by wrapping the rear tailights around the corner (ala the 5-series) to disguise the upper lip of the trunk line.
The rumor mill also is hinting that the front headlights could change as well and resemble the five series spectacles.
Some of the more interesting comments we've heard from dealers are:
"In 20 years with BMW, I've NEVER seen them do a refresh this fast"
"Why are they changing it? Hey, just like with your wife...you gotta like her ass to stay with her long term!"
Auto Spies perspective: Our question to BMW: If the car is SO successful and people love it SO much, why are you changing it SO fast? We think we know the answer...IT'S UGLY and the only reason the numbers have been reasonable is because, you are giving away the leases with unrealistic money factors, that will come back to bite you in the ass!!!!
