For Toyota to show up at a major international auto show without something interesting and eye catching is not exactly possible. The 2012 Detroit Auto Show will not be any different.

Although we're intrigued by the Prius c hybrid -- the cheap hybrid variant we've been curious about -- the NS4 concept looks like it could have the potential to blow our hair back. From the tease video down below, it appears very similar to the rakish LF-LC coupe, which is aiming to be the star of the show.

As Toyota continues its race to build a lineup full of hybrid vehicles, it's made crystal clear that this new vehicle, whatever it is, will be a plug-in hybrid.

Given the brand's investment into the Scion FR-S and LF-LC, I think it may be possible that Toyota surprises us all and attempts to shed its boring image with a rakish and sensual four-door coupe to go up against the likes of the Volkswagen Passat CC.

Or, I could be dreaming.

What say you, Spies?

Toyota's statement follows:

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., will debut NS4, an advanced plug-in hybrid concept vehicle, at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The reveal will feature the world premiere of the concept vehicle as well as the North American debut of the Prius c hybrid during Toyota’s news conference on Tuesday, January 10 at 8:45 AM in the Riverview Ballroom at Cobo Center.
