Though many of you may not be entirely familiar with the UK sensation, Jamiroquai, you should be. No, I am not trying to push music on you.
Jay Kay, the band's lead singer is a gigantic gear head. Top Gear fans may remember the episodes where Jay Kay was featured. If you recall, he showed off his Miura -- with the broken window --, and appeared a couple of times to prove his skill on the track for the segment, A Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. Not only can the guy wheel, but his auto collection is extensive with vehicles of vintage caliber and modern day supercars.
The cool part? He actually drives them. Hard.
All of that said, a rare opportunity is coming up as Jay Kay will be auctioning off his 1955 Maserati A6G/54 at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Current price estimates are ranging between $1.5 and 2 million dollars.
Auction house Gooding & Co. will sell a Maserati A6G/54 owned by the lead singer of Jamiroquai, Jay Kay, during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Also crossing the block will be a 1938 Bugatti owned by Prince Louis Napoleon, a Shelby Cobra and many other vehicles.
Last year during its Pebble Beach event, Gooding sold $78 million worth of merchandise, including a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype for $16.39 million, a world record. This year's event takes place at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center on the evenings of Aug. 18 and 19. Viewing runs from Aug. 15 to 17.
