In recent months there's been another Volvo seen going through developmental testing. No, it isn't the upcoming Polestar S60 we're speaking of.
It's the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and whatever any other luxury automaker can throw at it competitor.
Essentially that means it will cost approximately $30,000, have some utility and become a brand ambassador. Considering Volvo's second best-selling product is the XC60, we'd expect the XC40 to espouse similar virtues and lift sales from the C30, which has become a niche player. In May 2012, it only moved over 230 units off dealer lots.
So, you Swedish car fans be prepared for an all-new Volvo coming to showrooms near you.
Look for its big-time debut at the Paris Motor Show.
Volvo is preparing a BMW X1-rivalling crossover based on the new V40, and these spy pictures prove it’s on track for a debut at the Paris Motor Show this September.
The new model is expected to be called the XC40 and the pictures reveal it gets a raised ride-height and a more rugged looking bodykit, featuring black cladding at the front and rear, as well as a set of metal side skirts.
