As the entry-level luxury sport-utility vehicle market continues to heat up, new information about the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA has hit the 'net.

This will prove to be a critical new SUV for Mercedes as it will be battling against the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1, Range Rover Evoque, MINI Paceman and whatever else will be thrown at it by the time it emerges in 2014.

With Mercedes-Benz pursuing younger buyers, expect the GLA to feature some nifty gadgetry and connectivity to earn some street cred with a younger generation buyer.

The new five-seater is set to rival the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Range Rover Evoque. It will be part of a five-strong line-up based on Mercedes’ new MFA platform, along with the A-class, B-class, CLA small saloon and CLA Shooting Brake, that’s designed to bring younger customers to the Mercedes-Benz brand.

The disguised GLA reveals that it has the contemporary styling theme of the new A and B-class, with a bold front end, flamboyant swage line graphics and shallow glasshouse, all aimed at providing it with the modern-day appeal that Mercedes’ recent small cars have lacked.
