Though many folks seem to discount Volvo and its offerings in the marketplace, it really does build great products. When I drove the XC60 for the first time, what feels like eons ago, it was a fabulously well-rounded product.

If you're looking at the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLK and you DON'T test this vehicle, you're missing out.

Then there's the S60 sedan, which drives eerily similar to the BMW 3-Series. You just have to dig the hip and minimalist Scandinavian design. It's a shame Volvo's products aren't recognized by mainstream consumers and has been relegated to its cult-like following.

Though the XC60 has put more Volvos in new driveways, it doesn't benefit from the same sales volume as BMW and Mercedes-Benz; however, it is the second biggest seller for the Swedes. And now that it is in its mid-life cycle, it's time to give it a proper refreshing.

Our friends from the Far East have spied the 2014 Volvo XC60 for the FIRST time.

Some notable changes can be seen with its updated "face," and new instrument cluster on the inside.
