If there's one thing that driving and racing movies tend to have in common, it's that they tend to suck. Don't get me wrong, there's a good apple here or there but if we're speaking in generalities, it's not good.
Several of my favorite letdowns include: Days of Thunder, Driven and how can you forget Fast and Furious — I am including all of them. Then there was that whole Eddie Griffin flick where he crashed a Ferrari Enzo promoting it but I can't remember the name.
The only good racing film was probably Senna but that was a documentary more than a motion picture.
But Senna may not be the only one soon enough. A new picture, dubbed Rush, is hitting theaters in September and the trailer was just put up on YouTube. The cool thing about this all-new Ron Howard flick is that it covers the 1975 Formula One World Championship that was full of drama. The two main characters are Niki Lauda and James Hunt.
