This may very well be one of the most unsurprising recalls on the face of the Earth. That's because if you look at any Italian-produced vehicle that's older than, I don't know, 15 years you're probably going to find quite a bit of that funny red stuff when you get under it.
The latest to fall victim to the decay are the Maserati Quattroporte, Gran Turismo and Alfa Romeo 8C — yes, the uber rare Alfa.
According to a report released via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the vehicles' rear tie rod assemblies may not of had adequate corrosion protection. Of course you know what that means. Part fails, boom, you're in a crash.

SUMMARY:
Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2005-2008 Quattroporte, 2008 Granturismo, and 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C vehicles. The rear tie rod assemblies may have insufficient anti-corrosion material applied, allowing them to weaken and possibly fail.
CONSEQUENCE:
Failure of the tie rods may result in a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Maserati will notify owners and dealers will replace the tie rod assemblies. The recall is expected to begin by the end of June 2013. Customers may contact Maserati at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's recall campaign number is 205.
