While the Volkswagen Golf just made its worldwide debut, the real story is the Golf R that's waiting in the wings. Though I can't stand the current version, the MKVI, maybe I'll learn to love the MKVII.
But I am skeptical.
If it still uses that forced induction four cylinder, it will have a tough uphill battle to face against 00R.
That said, spy shooters recently captured the next-gen Golf R getting a workout on the Nurburgring. It seems to be moving through the corners at a decent pace though the sound of screeching tires is excruciating. Can you say "understeer?"
