While the 911 (991) range made its debut in 2012 and most of the lineup has taken a bow — the most recent being the GT3 and Turbo — one particular 911 has been absent from the picture. That, my friends, is the 911 Targa.

And for any Spy that's been reading what 001 and I have been penning for quite some time, they'd know by now that we're HUGE fans of the 911 Targa.

Of course, the rest of the Porsche community isn't. It's typically shunned because the 993, 996 and 997 versions had large, heavy glass panels and folks would rather go for the pure performance play or just spring for the convertible.

Thanks to our friend Toldi though, we've not got the FIRST video of the all-new 911 Targa doing some testing with the roof off. It's very clear this Targa won't use glass panels and will use the more old-school method of having a properly removable top.

What will be interesting to see is how Porsche will finish off the fastback/hatch area of the 911 as it still remains heavily camouflaged.
