Finally, it looks like Lexus is springing to action. They're only behind by a year or two.
With the entry-level luxury sport-utility vehicle category, we've seen the likes of Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, MINI and others enter into the fray. Let's face it, there's plenty of market share in this battle to grasp it's just a matter of who gets to it first and who can leverage their already loyal customers. If anyone should be involve, we'd expect Lexus to be there.
But they haven't. Until now, that is.
Spotted testing abroad is an all-new Lexus that looks like a jacked-up CT200h. No word if that's the actual product or if that's merely a disguise to keep the real-deal under cover.
We'll keep our eyes peeled to see what comes of this but hopefully Lexus has its ducks in a row and is ready to fight.
Lexus is planning to enter the booming market for compact premium SUVs with a model based on the CT200 hybrid hatchback.
If the new car sells proportionally as well as BMW’s X1 and Audi’s Q3 models, it could become Lexus’s best-seller in Europe.
This test mule appears to be using a CT200h’s body, but it has a higher roofline and deeper sides and is riding higher than its hatchback sibling. However, Lexus stylists have clearly elected to keep close to the design language of the CT200h.
