While there's no question BMW sets the benchmark for the entry-level luxury segment, I am not going to lie. I think it has a bit of trouble in the upper echelon of vehicles — Ms aside.

You have to admit, it must be tough to be a sporty, driver-oriented brand and then crossover into the luxury space where cars like the Audi A8, Jaguar XJ and Mercedes-Benz S-Class really take things to another level.

Given the loads of technology BMW now is competing with, I think now — more than ever — it has the chance to surpass its rivals. Especially now that it is working in partnership with Rolls-Royce to develop its uber luxury sedans.

The good news is this: while Mercedes-Benz has to really lean towards the luxury side because it is working as a replacement for the long-gone Maybach, the BMW can remain a bit more driver-oriented because the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Phantom will carry on.

That all said, our friends from abroad created what I believe is the very FIRST rendering of what the next-gen 7-Series could look like though it appears largely derived off the current-gen vehicle's design.
