It was only yesterday we brought you news that Audi's next-gen Q7 will be using Volkswagen Group's (VWAG) MLB modular platform. Much like the smaller, MQB modular platform, it will become a staple in the VWAG sphere of products.

This means that the upcoming, confirmed Bentley sport-utility vehicle's platform will underpin the next-gen Q7. Pretty nifty, huh?

Following up on that interesting bit of information are images from abroad showing the FIRST development mule for the next-gen car. Though it looks largely similar to the current-gen Q7, the test car uses the all-new platform that's said to be a world's difference from what currently is being used.

Word on the street suggests that due to MORE usage of aluminum the next-gen Q7 is expected to drop over 750 pounds. Obviously that's a monumental task but if Range Rover could make so much headway with its flagship, perhaps Volkswagen Group can too.
