It was not too long ago we brought you the very first spy images of the all-new McLaren P13. Though it's hard to tell since the vehicle's wizardry is actually underneath the skin of this here MP4-12C, word on the street is that this blacked-out MP4-12C is a downsized powerplant.

Propelled by a rumored 3.8-liter V8 producing somewhere around 450 or so b-h-p, the P13 is expected to get into the ring with the likes of the Jaguar F-Type, upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC and, of course, the iconic Porsche 911 (991).

In these images you'll note this appears to be a spider model WITH extra large intakes on the rear buttresses. I just put the side profile images side-by-side with the standard MP4-12C and this enlarged venting is a new addition. Definitely interesting to note.

That said, am I missing something else? Do YOU see any differences between this MP4-12C development mule and the standard going MP4-12C?
