As the cutting-edge design that led the wave of four-door coupes, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Coupe is one of those vehicles that will go down in automotive history. Yeah'p, I said it.
While it seems the buying public has been unanimously split on the second-generation vehicle's design, I don't think I can remember many folks disliking the original. Obviously considering the impressive competition in form of other luxury sports cars, this is not good.
But Mercedes will not simply sit this one out. It's already hatching a plan to update the CLS-Class so it can be brought up to speed with the likes of the Audi A7, BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, Porsche Panamera, etc. While we reckon the vehicle's 5.5-liter V8 will be updated with more power and better emissions, it's pretty obvious that its exterior design will get a bit of touch up as well.
In an interesting move, from what we can tell in these first images the CLS will get an all-new front grille that has that A-Class Concept treatment. I don't know how else to describe it aside from a star-speckled night sky but that's how it looks to my eyes.
Though the rest of the facade is camouflaged up tightly, it's pretty clear the headlights and front air intakes will be reworked as well.
