You know the Germans. They hate to leave a niche open when a direct competitor is playing in that field. And when BMW created the X6, which is simply an X5 with a sloped roof, you KNEW that someone else was going to have to challenge them.

Finally, Mercedes-Benz has stepped up to the plate with the upcoming MLC.

This is the FIRST time we're getting a look at it and you may say "hmm, that is just an M-Class." You'd be right but also wrong all at once. That's because this vehicle is actually an MLC development mule.

According to Auto Express, this test vehicle was spotted testing alongside a slew of X6s for benchmarking purposes.

The Mercedes MLC has been spotted, and the spyshots appear to show Mercedes putting a current ML through its paces at the Nürburgring, but they actually show a test mule for the company’s X6 rival – tipped to be called the Mercedes MLC.

These spy pictures give you an idea of how the car could look; it’ll be a little longer, wider and lower than the ML. That’s why the test car’s wheels are pushed out wider, beneath extended wheelarches. The Mercedes MLC is also likely to be a strict four-seater, which is why the test mule has been fitted with a pair of race seats and little else inside.
