In the American sports car wars, it doesn't get much more heated than when the Chevrolet Corvette and Chrysler's SRT Viper get together and tangle. We saw this earlier in the year when a buff book took a Corvette ZR1 and put it head-to-head with the Viper.

The 'Vette was victorious, obviously not good news for the all-new Viper.

Well, it turns out the news only gets worse. That's because the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was put up against the much more expensive SRT Viper and aside from off-the-line drag race performance, the Corvette really put up some staggering performance figures.

Though the test car appears to be sporting the Z51 package, this only means if a Z07 is in the pipeline it can only get MUCH worse for SRT. And imagine if Chevrolet does another ZR1? Ouch.

Check out the clip below. Yes, there's plenty of "roll-out" for everyone...

Edmunds.com takes both the Corvette Stingray and SRT Viper to the track for performance tests - 0-60 launches, quarter mile times, braking distances, slalom runs & skip pad ratings.
