Although the mighty, mighty Nissan GT-R is one helluva car — it boasts performance that exceeds just about every supercar — it turns out that it is going to get better.

That's because Nissan is working on a NISMO GT-R. And that should be even more epic than the original.

For those of you not in touch with the Nissan lingo, NISMO is the arm of the company that gives traditional models a bit of a boost. It's not quite an M or AMG division — at least from the production cars it has put out — but it does add enough fixes in key areas. Take, for example, the NISMO 370Z, which when I drove it, benefitted from a new set of wheels/tires, a big brake kit, sportier springs/suspension and an aerodynamics kit.

Now given the high-performance nature of the GT-R it's going to be interesting to see how the company goes about making it even better. More lightweight materials? Bigger turbos? Better cooling?

We do know one thing: Nissan is developing the NISMO GT-R in association with Williams F1. We're expecting even BIGGER things from Godzilla.
