One of my favorite things is being invited for a ride in a Mercedes S-Class and enjoying the acres of space in the back seat.

When Lexus announced the new LS-Series would have a long wheelbase edition, it got my attention because I've always thought that it was one of the key things missing, to make the LS a REAL S-Class competitor.

So yesterday, I had to put it to the test.

Of course an AutoSpies.com test is always an enduring hardship as you can see from the photo... but I have to make sacrifices for you, my readers! ;)

The first test we did was with SpyGirl Lisa to see how she enjoyed the seating position and space.

For the second test, she was very satisfied and was thankful for the champagne we provided, to test the rear seat drink table.

And for the third test...well I can't tell you about that one! ;)

OK...getting serious again even though it's still the weekend and a '00' has to have his fun...My test being 6'5" showed the new LS felt a little smaller and tighter than the Mercedes S-Class. Especially in the headroom area.

We will be testing the new LS next week so we will have further details, photos and impressions of this new sweet ride.

Is the rear seat space on the new Lexus LS as large as the S-Class? We test it.
