When you think of a "bad ass pickup truck," the first image that pops up in your mind is probably not of a Toyota. Though the company has been a player in the market for some time, it just doesn't seem to be able to reach the output and "cool" factor of vehicles from Ford, General Motors or Chrysler's RAM.

Take, for example, the Ford SVT Raptor and Dodge RAM SRT-10. While the Raptor was built for dune hopping, essentially, and the RAM was built for speed, there's a point here: they're both "halo" products for the pickup buying crowd.

Much like Audi's move building the R8 to bring attention to the marque, some are speculating that Toyota needs to do the same to up the company's pickup game.

Our friends at TopSpeed.com sent us a note showing us their recent renderings done up by their in-house designer, David Kiss. While we're not confident that even a halo product would have buyers rushing in, it sure is worth a shot.

That said, click "Read Article" to see the FULL collection of renderings over at TopSpeed.com
