According to one of our favorite sources for automotive information, it seems that the all-new Lexus RX may have just shown up early except it is wrapped in different packaging. That's because abroad the RX is typically known as the Toyota Harrier.

Clearly Toyota is readying another go around for the Harrier to reappear in the JDM lineup. As this was a leading indicator for the first two generation Lexus RX products, it could be safe to say that this Harrier will be, in fact, the next-gen U.S.-bound RX.

However, I am going to run interference on this one.

That's because if you look closely at the vehicle's roofline it is the exact same body as the current-gen Lexus RX in my eyes.

Sure there have been some changes on the outside and the interior is fully "reskinned," but I am pretty sure Toyota Motor Sales is simply using the current-gen RX for the basis of the JDM Harrier.

That said, what say you?

Is this Toyota Harrier the next-gen RX?

The Harrier was sold as the Lexus RX in the US for the first 2 generations. For the current model, the RX and Harrier merged. Now there is one around, the Lexus RX.

It seems that Toyota is reviving the Harrier for the Japanese market very soon. Which means it could, once again, become the new RX in the US.

I think they will just put the giant Lexus grille on it and sell it over here as the 2015 RX.
