In the world of modern muscle cars, things are getting very interesting. That's because in the past several years the cars once known for their truck engines and straightline performance are now becoming track-going beasts.
The proof's in the pudding.
In General Motors conducted tests the Z/28 has chalked up an incredibly fast 7:37:47 and the ZL1 put down an impressive 7:41:27.
Considering the weight of these vehicles, that's outrageous. These times are right up there with the likes of the Nissan GT-R, various Porsches and Ferraris. Of course, one could debate the methodologies, tires and drivers all day long but we'll put that aside for the time being.
What's interesting to take a look at though is how the Z/28 and ZL1 differ on track. With the Z/28 being lighter and benefiting from suspension technology from the Aston Martin One-77, it's clear it can tear up the ZL1 on the switchbacks. However, the ZL1 gains back some of its losses on the straights as we watch it hit over 170 mph in the overlaid clip.
That said, WHICH would YOU have and WHY? Would you make it the Z/28 or the ZL1?
