In the highly competitive luxury sport-utility vehicle market, the Nissan Murano doesn't exactly boast the cachet of its sister brand Infiniti or other luxury marques, like Lexus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, etc., BUT it is quirky.
With its controversial styling and typical Nissan Group technological prowess, it's not your run-of-the-mill SUV.
We're not exactly sure what direction Nissan will go with the next-gen Murano but I'd wager it'll continue down the path of the two iterations of the Murano nameplate. Decent size and definitely polarizing.
In the very first shots of the all-new Murano under development, we can't make out any of the key exterior details. On the inside, however, it looks like it'll be pretty standard Nissan fare with a center stack looking like it's largely lifted from the Altima.

This early-stage prototype shows that development on the new model is well underway, with current reports suggesting the car will be ready for launch in 2015. Rather than being a US-only car, there is talk that the new Murano could find its way to Europe and the UK...
