While the jury is still out on Tesla — at least for us — one thing we have to give props to the company for is creating an interior space that was a bit ahead of its time. I think it's safe to say we'd call it a game changer.

That's because while the Model S is an electric auto with unbelievable performance and comfort, no one is talking about that. At all. Everyone that experiences the Model S is infatuated with its MASSIVE screen located in the vehicle's center stack.

So, when we saw Volvo integrating a large center screen in its stack we were excited. But when that translated into reality in the released photos of the XC90 we were a bit...disappointed. It's much smaller than the concept, which is already smaller than Tesla's.

The good news, however, is that Volvo's next-gen interior will find its way into the all-new S80, which needs just about everything it can get to be competitive in the space. I think its right up there with the Acura RLX in terms of desirability.


The next car to receive Volvo's significantly upgraded interior styling, which will first be seen on the all-new XC90 SUV when it makes its debut at the Paris motor show in October, will be the S80 luxury saloon.

A company executive revealed to Autocar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that the XC90's interior, which represents a radical departure from the Swedish firm's current designs, will be incorporated into other Volvo models, starting with its larger and more premium offerings...
