The past year and a half has been a very exciting time for Jaguar. Although the rest of the models have been lagging in the sales department, the F-Type Roadster and Coupe are doing numbers MUCH higher than I think anyone — including Jaguar — expected. People are eating this thing up.

Of course there's just two little issue with the standard F-Type.

First, it's a bit costly. We've SEEN what's believed to be a four-cylinder model undergoing testing and we're hoping Jaguar brings it to market to lower the barrier of entry.

Second, it's rear-wheel drive ONLY. Well, that is until today.

We can officially confirm the Jaguar F-Type has been spied with its "AWD" badge completely exposed. This thing's real and will be seeing the light of day in short order. Bubbling speculation seems to have pinpointed the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show as its coming out party. Makes sense as the show has been a mix of a "green" show and sports car show.

It will be interesting to see how sophisticated Jaguar's AWD system will be. If it's similar to the type seen in the XJ, it won't be all that impressive, if I am honest. It may hurt performance due to the weight of the added system. BUT, if it's an all-new, high-tech AWD system we're thinking this will make the F-Type even faster and more surefooted when taken to the limit.

One of the spied cars is an all-new derivative: the F-Type R roadster. A soft-top sporting an ‘R’ badge shows an even faster open-top F-Type is imminent, available with all-wheel drive and a supercharged V8 uprated from 485bhp to 542bhp...
